PIRATE SINGLE: THE GIT UP, BY BLANCO BROWN
Occasionally Vagrom rips off corporate record label songs, for various reasons. Today, it's Blanco Brown's controversial "The Git Up," which according to KCRW's Chris Douridas, is blowing up. LISTEN TO THE SONG AND ANALYSIS HERE. Dr. Robert Muñoz, Jr., Vagrom's guest social justice and cultural contributor, breaks down the ear-worm worthy mash-up fusing country line dancing and hip-hop. This BMG title comes via fair use here, thanks to said commentary.

After posters went up in Seattle urging people to report any tents on public space used by people experiencing homelessness,  this poster popped up in response.

VAGROM REPORTS
Denver city council is expected to consider a measure to make it easier for people to add Tiny Houses to industrial spaces and other areas around the city without going through a lot of bureaucratic red tape. The measure, sponsored by Robin Kniech, is expected to be heard by council in the fall. If approved, most agree that even the most ambitious Tiny Home plans wouldn’t put much of a dent in housing demand. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN

MILLIONS COULD LOSE FOOD STAMPS UNDER TRUMP PROPOSAL
From Public News Service
Picture
Anti-hunger advocates are pushing back against a Trump administration proposal that could kick more than three-million people off food stamps. Under the current rule, qualified recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families are automatically enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or 'SNAP.' U-S Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue sees it as a "loophole," and says eliminating it would save two-and-a-half billion dollars. Learn more by clicking here.

TIPS FOR ENCOUNTERS WITH ICE
The Colorado Immigrants Rights Coalition got out in front of the Trump Administration's efforts to terrorize immigrant communities by producing a "know your rights" document. A radio PSA in Spanish and English is playing now on DOM 92.9 FM in Denver. Listen to it here, and pass along some key constitutional protections.

VAGROM REPORTS
Temperatures have been reaching 100 degrees or more in Denver, and people are looking for ways to beat the heat. Erin Gleeks talked with
Wren and Niffer at the Denver Skatepark about high temperatures, and the high cost of rent, for a report featured on Denver Open Media 92.9 FM. Click here to listen, and please vote on the report so it gets more airtime.

FRESH INDY MUSIC
This week's featured indy track is inspired by the 50th anniversary of an accomplishment suggesting that ending homelessness (or add your favorite major social or eco challenge here) is apparently harder than putting a pale-skinned primate on the moon. It's fun, definitely give it a listen. From the group Yumenoma, it's Who Built the Moon. Listen to it here on demand. And if you like it, give it a star ranking to make sure it gets some future airtime.
